Greedy.

With the fall of Antium, Julius calls for peace. I don't have currency or alphabet, and neither does he, so I get nothing out of the deal, but I don't have a huge military, and I *have* gained a city, so I decide it's acceptable. I have been monitoring the power graph also and need to rebuild my army. The hanging gardens completes in Memphis in 575ad, and not accidentally. I had paused it til I gained Antium. In 605ad, Mao finally offers something useful to me. I accept.

Musa also starts begging me for elephants again, something he has done a few times, but I just keep saying no. He must be in a crappy spot. He seems to be lacking all sorts of stuff. I pity whoever gets his opening. Here's the power chart again. Things are looking up.

Pretty soon, I get an offer that I decide to accept from my good neighbor Lizzy:

Sure, I don't like him anyway. Perhaps we can be friends now, Lizzy? Or perhaps you'd like to trade me a few techs for Feudalism? Musa then comes looking to make a few trades. Well, we are starting to like each other, so why not. I also decided to smack Julius around a little. I made him pay me 110 gold, just becuase I don't like him. ;) Saladin wants construction also, but I fear his aggressiveness a little so I have to turn him down. At this point, the only ones stronger in power than I are Lizzy and Tokugawa. Toku is a ways away from me, which is good, because as usual, he doesn't like me. But Lizzy is happy with us, and not going to attack, I hope. She also beat me to Music by like one turn which caused me to miss the free artist, but I still like her. Roosevelt comes knocking again also around this time. I'm quite popular! Why is it that in all my games, Roosevelt always wants to get handouts or make rediculous trades that only benefit him? He is so inconsiderate! He always wants something for nothing! Well, I don't have any charity for you, sissy boy! But I did finish the Great Library in 1055ad ;)

Mao then came asking for more trades. He just doesn't get it, does he? I'm not going to give him more stuff so he can declare war on me! There was another offer by Roosevelt by the way. I gave him this one, just because I was feeling generous. Ok, actually, because he had increasingly poor relations with Caesar, and I wanted to help him if he decided to take the old Orange julius out. Somewhere around here, I started spawning a few scientists, and made a total of 3 academies. Future great people were just added as specialists to keep 'em coming. I wanted to keep my tech rate moving. The next several hundred years were rather peaceful. Everyone was bugging me for trades, so I picked and chose what to give out and to whom. Again, I started supplying Roosevelt a little better, counting on a war to arrive soon. But when war DID come, it was Caesar vs Mao. That's great. As a matter of fact, I'll even smack Mao around a little also! I could use some more cities! Of course, before joining the war, I demanded 2gpt from Caesar, just because I could hahahahah. Why can't the human make the AI give stuff in exchange for helping them in a war? Is it because it would be too easily abused? Does the same go for religious conversions? Anyway, back to the fight. Guangzu is going DOWN!

Most powerful civ research comes in also. Toku could be a problem soon. I will be sharing borders with him after I wipe out Mao. Somewhere around here, Roos also decides to pick off a few of Caesar's cities while he's at war with Mao. This is working out nicely. 1508 completes the haga sophia. I don't feel we need a screen shot for that wonder :) Sadder news, however, is that I missed getting liberalism first by just a few turns. Sigh. In 1523ad, Mao offers peace for astronomy. On anything but Pangaea, I might have considered but no, I will just take a few more cities, thanks. I captured shanghai in 1556ad as a matter of fact, and shortly thereafter, the cities of Beijing and Xian.

Sadly, Beijing went into japanese revolt right away. I see I would have to deal with that soon also. But at least Mao was now put to rest. And lets not forget that Caesar has been cripled also. In 1592, Beijing was flipped to Japan. That didn't take long at all! So I built up my army again, though not much, I wanted to strike while the iron was hot. I had to take some of those culture producing cities from japan and take back Beijing! Here's another boon.

As you can see, now all of my 3 easterly neighbors are fairly happy with me, and none are really in a position to attack me, either. So I can focus on Toku. Plus you can see from the minimap that I've carved out a decent amount of land for myself now. Japan jumped the gun in 1619ad. So be it. Dumbass.
