Epic 8

Domination.
Beijing is my first target. I also call up Musa, Lizzy, and Saladin,
and trade for military
techs, as japan is stronger than I am. Research drops to a game low of
40% But the fight
is on. Nara and Najing are about to fall, and here you can see that
Tokyo is doomed as
well. Actually, it was hard capturing Tokyo, and I just BARELY kept
hold of Shanghai to
the north.
Check out the war chariots still getting in there!! These guys should
be retired by now,
shouldn't they? Lol! I never said I was good at this game :) I order
up some more trades
with Saladin for military stuff, but chose peace instead of attacking
further into Japan,
because of this saucy bit of information.
Roosevelt also made peace with Caesar after taking a few cities. Poor,
poor Caesar. I
ruined him early. I wish I could have taken these cities, but I just
didn't have the man-
power.
In 1718ad, I do what I almost *always* do on a map with an American
Civ. Hello, there,
mister tough guy. Want to be my friend?
while were at it though, anyone else want to be my friend? How about
Lizzy?
Now *that* should prevent anyone from attacking me for the rest of the
game! I finally
found communism in 1750ad for a much needed financial break. I proceed
to tech trade with
my allies some more, and by 1772, I'm the financial leader again, at
70% research with a
+5gpt gain. Physics comes in and nets me a scientist for free! But I
really need to figure
out how I'm going to win this game. I don't have the might for
domination or conquest...
I think maybe either Diplomatically or through space are my only
options. But because I
have A.D.H.D., I don't know how to focus on one goal for long, so why
not go for both and
see which one works out? I started a golden age with my scientist and
a priest I had been
saving up for just such an occasion in 1796ad. The following picture
is why I always sign
DPs with America late game.
In mid 1900s, Pisae, the puny Roman city revolts to me by virtue of
culture, hooray! Also,
I find out that Lizzy is the most advanced civ! The next few years
aren't really that
much more than pressing enter and working towards my two possible
victory conditions.
However, Musa keeps asking me for Aluminum! No, buddy, sorry.
Roosevelt and Lizzy are both
making spaceship parts, which is kind of worrisome... But I focus on
getting labratories
and the space elevator first, after the apollo program of course.
Lizzy keeps trying to
trade for techs, but I keep refusing, as she's already ahead of me in
spaceship parts, I
don't want to help her along further! Finally in 1921ad:
I also finish up the 3 gorges dam for some extra production power in my
cities. In 1940ad:
Victory condition #2 enabled! Which will it be? I have
some votes for
secretary, yay. Not a lot of support for victory
though.
Uh oh, it's getting down to the wire now. My report is getting thin,
but it's because there
isn't anything exciting happening other than the space race! I'm just
hitting enter and
holding my breath to see who completes what parts first! And trying to
win my friends with
UN votes of course.. But I have my doubts about getting a Diplo victory
now. I grab the
internet in 1967 and get all the techs I need to complete the spaceship
parts. It's just
a matter of time, right?
Now, you may be thinking it isn't all THAT stressful racing a civ for a
space victory,
right? And I'm pretty close to Lizzy in parts, right? You've been
following the F8 screen-
shots and Lizzy's progress? Well how about this?
Well hello there America! I see the pressure is really on!
I decided it was time to rush my part that had the longest to complete.
Even going so far
as to jump into starvation to do it.
America is still leading the way...
And here comes Lizzy again! Oh crap! I was dancing around in my chair
at this point! She
is only one part away from completion. And I would like to point out,
that the part she
hasn't finished was made available by the tech that I refused to trade
her like 8 gagillion
times. And look how close I am to the damned Diplo victory! Why does
Roosevelt have to be
so stubborn??!
No matter, VICTORY IS MINE IN 1985AD!!!!
This game took me 4 hrs and 9 min. One of my longest games ever! My
score wasn't fantastic
but it was a victory :) I actually never felt in danger of losing this
game until the
space race was on. I felt pretty solid the whole way through. I
didn't exactly dominate,
but then again, I wasn't trying to really. I wasn't working towards a
real goal. I can't
wait to read all of the other 118 reports or so! I especially want to
see how others made
better use of the Egyptian start than I did. I didn't grab land early
enough, and had to
take it through military, but I'm sure there are some builders out
there who did it
differently.
I want to finish up with a few pictures of my best cities, so you can
see how un-masterful I
truly am, lol. Feel free to tell what I should have done differently
with these cities to
improve my game! All opinions are appreciated! Thanks for reading!
